Overview

Academic year 2011-2012 The University of Mumbai introduced the Bachelor of Management (BMS) programme in June 1999. An undergraduate Degree programme in Management studies, the BMS is spread over a period of 3 years or Six semesters, with each semester of approximately 5 months duration. "Management is, above all, a practice where art, science, and craft meet." — Henry Mintzberg McGill University In sync with the above saying the S.M. Shetty BMS programm ewas started in 2008 and has seen a successful completion of its first batch in the year 2011. The BMS programmehas shown great promise through its student centered approach, strong emphasis on teamwork and a culture that believes both faculty and student have much to learn from each other. Candidates receive a holistic education through industrial visits, guest lectures and teamwork. This programme enables its students to understand the technological, environmental and ethical challenges they will face in the world of accelerating change. It aims to develop leaders who also have the ability to become team members and individuals with a sense of passion, creativity and commitment. It aims at churning out job creators rather than only job seekers. Students are encouraged to develop the quintessential skills of effective communication, motivation and group dynamics. For all round development of the students, the college organizes Group discussion, Mock Interviews, workshops and field work. To bring in a feeling of uniformity and solidarity the College follows a dress code for BMS. BMS department also has a Placement Cell which ensures that the student passing out from the institution has an appointment letter before his results. We also have a Management Association which aims at nurturing management talent and giving an opportunity to the students to interact with the corporate world through seasoned corporate professionals. "The conventional definition of management is getting work done through people, but real management is developing people through work." — Agha Hasan Abedi We are committed to developing our students into socially responsible citizens who are not only equipped with the latest management information but are also good human beings. Ms. Shurlly Tiwari BMS - Coordinator
